Steelers Secure First Preseason Victory

The Black Country Steelers secured their first preseason victory on Saturday, defeating Liverpool 73–66 in an impressive performance against Division 1 opposition. The Steelers produced a composed and competitive display against a strong Liverpool side, with the squad showing plenty of character to come away with a seven-point victory. After a closely contested opening, the Steelers grew into the game and established control as the contest progressed, before holding their nerve to close out the win. The result moves the Steelers to a 1–1 preseason record, with preparations continuing ahead of the 2026–27 season. The Steelers now have one preseason fixture remaining, with Worcester Wolves next on the schedule on September 12th in a closed-door fixture. The final test will provide one last opportunity to fine-tune preparations before the competitive season gets underway.

Steelers Set for Liverpool Test in Second Pre-Season Friendly

The Black Country Steelers return to action this Saturday as they continue their preparations for the new season with a pre-season friendly against Liverpool Men’s Division 1. The Steelers will be looking to bounce back after a thrilling opening friendly last time out, narrowly falling to a two-point defeat in a competitive contest against BCU that provided plenty of positives to build on. With another valuable test ahead, Saturday’s game will give the squad an opportunity to continue developing their systems, build chemistry and sharpen up ahead of the competitive season. 📅 Saturday 29th August ⏰ Tip-off: 15:00 📍 HARBOURNE ACADEMY, BIRMINGHAM B15 3JL With pre-season building momentum, the Steelers will be looking to put together another strong performance and get back to winning ways.
