Steelers Split Dramatic Double-Header Weekend
Two games. Two final-possession finishes. One hard-fought cup victory. The Black Country Steelers faced a demanding double-header this weekend, with two closely contested games producing a narrow league defeat on Saturday before the team bounced back with a dramatic cup win on Sunday. Saturday: Cambridge Cats 83–81 Steelers Saturday's league fixture away against Cambridge Cats delivered a thrilling contest that went right down to the wire. With 19 lead changes across the game, neither side was able to establish lasting control as the lead repeatedly changed hands. The Steelers battled throughout, matching Cambridge in a fiercely competitive encounter that remained in the balance until the final moments. Despite pushing the game to the very end, the Steelers narrowly missed out, falling to an 83–81 defeat. While the result was disappointing, the performance demonstrated the team's ability to compete in a close game on the road. The challenge now was to recover quickly and carry that competitiveness into Sunday's cup fixture. Sunday: Milton Keynes Breakers 64–66 Steelers There was little time to dwell on Saturday's result, with the Steelers travelling to Milton Keynes on Sunday for their cup fixture. Another tight contest followed, but this time the Steelers found a way to get over the line. In a much-improved overall performance, the team showed greater composure and execution in a game that once again came down to the final seconds. With just two points separating the sides, every possession mattered, and the Steelers held on to secure a hard-fought 66–64 victory. After Saturday's narrow loss, Sunday's result was a positive response from the team, demonstrating their ability to regroup, compete and deliver when the pressure was at its highest. Building Momentum The weekend offered a reminder of how fine the margins can be in competitive basketball. Saturday brought the disappointment of a two-point league defeat, while Sunday provided a valuable cup victory after another tense finish. The focus now turns to building on Sunday's performance, continuing to improve and finding greater consistency across the full game.

Steelers Head to Warwickshire Looking for First League Win
Black Country Steelers are back on the road this Saturday as they travel to face Warwickshire Hawks, with the team looking to pick up their first NBL Division 2 win of the season. The Steelers currently sit at 0–3 after a tough start to the league campaign, with the latest defeat coming against Anglia Ruskin University last weekend. Despite the 80–72 loss, there were plenty of positives to take from the game. After falling as much as 23 points behind, the Steelers showed plenty of fight to bring the deficit back and finish strongly. Now it's about taking that performance into Saturday from the start. There is no hiding from the fact that the Steelers want that first league win. The opening three games have been competitive in spells, but the team knows it needs to put together a complete performance for 40 minutes. Warwickshire will provide another tough test, particularly on their home court. The squad have been back in training this week and will head into Saturday knowing exactly what is at stake.

Steelers Split Weekend Double-Header With Cup Victory
Black Country Steelers endured a demanding weekend of basketball, falling to Charnwood Riders in Saturday's league fixture before bouncing back with a hard-fought victory over Cardiff City in Sunday's National Cup clash. It was a weekend that tested the Steelers physically and mentally, with the team facing two competitive fixtures in the space of 24 hours. Tough Night Against Charnwood Saturday saw the Steelers return to league action against Charnwood Riders, but it proved to be a frustrating evening for Black Country as they were unable to produce their best basketball. Charnwood took advantage of their opportunities and the Steelers struggled to build any sustained momentum throughout the contest, ultimately suffering a tough defeat. With little time to dwell on the result, attention quickly turned towards Sunday's National Cup fixture. Steelers Bounce Back Against Cardiff The response came less than 24 hours later as the Steelers welcomed Cardiff City for their latest National Cup test. In another closely fought contest, Black Country showed plenty of resilience to battle through the difficult moments and come away with a valuable cup victory. The win provided the perfect response to Saturday's disappointment and gave the Steelers an opportunity to celebrate in front of their home support. A Weekend of Character While the Steelers would have wanted a different outcome against Charnwood, Sunday's result ensured the weekend ended on a positive note. Two games in two days provided another valuable test for a team continuing to build together, with the Steelers now turning their attention back towards league action. The season is still in its early stages, and there is plenty of basketball still to be played. One tough loss. One important win. The Steelers move forward.
